FOUNDER
Tess received her Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences at West Texas A&M University in 2015. Beyond college she was lost and didn’t know where to start her life. That’s when she decided to sell her belongings and get a Working Holiday Visa in Australia. Her season of solo travel had begun.
While overseas, she spent a lot of time staying with locals. Not only did this save her a LOT of money, but it also gave her authentic experiences while abroad. When seeing the safety challenges in many current accommodation services, she set out to create a whole new platform where women can connect, stay with each other, and have unforgettable experiences together.
Since returning to the United States, Tess has published her solo travel memoir, Sherbet Skies. It quickly became a best seller in multiple categories on Amazon. For Tess, solo traveling was so much more than a vacation. Her season of solo travel was a deeply healing and enlightening experience. It is her passion to encourage women of all ages to step out, have adventures, and live life fully alive.
Tess is married and has a new son. She lives near San Antonio, Texas, and loves traveling, (of course!) writing, and is a Lord of the Rings fan.
INVESTOR & EXECUTIVE ADVISOR
During my 10 years of traveling solo to 84 countries, I had to get creative in order to fund my travels on my own which included getting creative with my accommodations. There were a handful of times that I used a popular website that provides free accommodations by hosts around the world. Many of those stays led to some questionable and sketchy experiences.
As a woman traveling on my own, I knew that I could not continue on using that website so I chose more hostels, budget accommodations, staying with friends of friends, or staying with new connections who I met in different parts of the world.
I sought a sense of security and peace of mind in the places that I stayed at, and the people that I stayed with, along with human connection, new friendships, insight into the best things to see and do in town, immersion into the local culture and way of living, and of course, a way to save money while on my journey of self-discovery and healing. There is a lot of synergy between what Tess is doing with HerHouse and what I am building with The Travel Coach Network, and our stories that led us here.
We both believe that travel is a powerful tool for all people, especially women, to enrich their lives, learn, grow, and thrive but, that can’t happen unless they actually go.
Through empowerment, human connection, peace of mind, support, and community, both The Travel Coach Network and HerHouse are helping women use travel as a source for healing, personal growth, and reaching their goals and aspirations in life and business.
